The effects of long-term aerobic training on immune system in older adult
ABSTRACT
Oh, S.D. The effects of long-term aerobic training on immune system in older adult. Exercise Science. 14(1): 77-86. 2005. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of long-term aerobic training and sub-exercise treatment on the changes of neutrophils, monocyte, CD4, CD8, natural killer-cell(NK-cell), interleukin (IL-2), and interferone-r(IFN-r) concentration in older adult. Level of blood NK-cell, IL-2, IFN-γ significantly increased in training than control group. Also, level of blood neutrophils, monocyte, CD4, NK-cell, and IL-2 following sub-exercise were significantly increased at post-0 and decreased at post-60 min in control than training group. In conclusion, long-term aerobic training induced positive effects on the changes of immune system in the older adult. Also, the effect of long-term aerobic training was to play in defending of declined immune system caused by sub-exercise treatment.
