ABSTRACT |
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise on PGC-1α, AMPK and SOD expression of skeletal muscle in type diabetic rats.
METHODS: Thirty male C57BL/KsJ-db/db of 7 weeks old, were used. Experimental groups were randomly divided into 3 groups: DM (diabetic control group, n=10), DM+Ex (diabetic exercise group, n=10), CON (control group, n=10). In the exercised groups, the mice exercise treadmill for 30 min/day (14-16 m/min), 5 days/week for 8 weeks.
RESULTS: Data analysis was done by computer using SPSS (Ver.18.0) and one-way ANOVA; the results of this study are as follows: the DM+Ex group showed a significant increase in PGC-1α, AMPK and SOD activity of mitochondrial proteins compared to the control DM group (p<.05).
CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, regular mid-intensity exercise increases the activity of mitochondrial proteins (PGC-1α, AMPK and SOD) of skeletal muscle of 2 type diabetic rats. And than the exercise is considered a helpful way to improve mitochondrial function and insulin sensitivity. |
