Comparisons of central fatigue by gene polymorphism of 5-HTT under hot environment
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of central fatigue by 5-HTT gene polymorphism during exhausted exercise under hot environment. Polymorphisms in the 5-HTT were determined in genormic DNA obtained from 307 college aged men. 16 out of 368 were participated into this study and divided into two groups according to their genotypes (S-type(SS, LS)=8, L-type(LL)=8). All participants performed exhausted exercise under 35℃(50% humidity) circumstance during 30 minnutes at ventilatory threshold intensity and then immediately run with gradual exercise type until no more performing. For the trial, blood samples were collected at pre exercise(baseline), post-VT exercise(during exercise), post-exercise, after 30min(recovery). we analyzed dopamine, serotonin, prolactin, ammonia and also rectal temperature as core temperature and the other factors including lactate, pH and the rate of self-Perceived fatigue at each trial. The results were followed as blow : first, VO2 of S type at post exercise were higher than L types significantly(p>.05). Second, there was no difference in plasma serotonin between 5-HTT types(p>.05). Third, there was no differenence in dopamine and in prolactin of 5-HTT types(p>.05). Forth, ammonia, pH, lactate, rectal temperature and rate of self-perceived fatigue had no difference by genotype(p>.05). Fifth, rate of self-perceived fatigue of L type had the significant influence by prolactin(p<.05), whereas S type had influence by dopamine(p<.05). With these results leaded the conclusions that according to the 5-HTT gene polymorphism the difference of central fatigue caused by exhausted exercise under hot environment might not be assured.
Key words: central fatigue, 5-HTT genotype, hot environment
