The effect of 12 week exercise program on muscle fitness, flexibility and balance in the fall down female elderly
ABSTRACT
This research aimed to analyse the effect of 12 week exercise program on muscle fitness, flexibility and balance in the fall down female elderly. Exercise Science, 13(1): 77-86, 2004. 20 persons of the aged 55-74 who experienced two times more of fall down at least in one year were selected as female subjects in this study, and they were divided in two groups of MOG(middle old group ; n=10) aged 55-64 and OOG(old old group; n=10) aged 65-74. All subjects participated in 12 week exercise program which was designed in order to develop muscle fitness, flexibility, and balance for prevention of fall down in this study. And They performed physiological fitness tests related to observed variables immediately before and after 12 week exercise program. The results of this study were as followings; there was significant differences in isokinetic strength of leg muscle in flexion and extension of knee joint, abdominal muscular endurance, right hip joint ROM, balance between before and after training of 12 week exercise program. But the only significant degree on with the eyes one leg on right which there were not significant between group. And There were non significant effects of training between group and training on weight bearing test
