Jung H.J., Kwon K.W., Oh J.K. The Effect of Whole-Body Vibration Exercise on Prevent of Osteoporosis in Ovariectomized Rats. Exercise Science, 16(3): 263-270, 2007. The purpose of this study was to investigate potential possibility for activation of bone formation and decrease of bone loss while whole-body vibration exercise(WBV) was performed at a intensity (frequency 45Hz, vertical acceleration 0.3g) and a duration (5days/wk for 12wks) on the vibrating plate. The SD rats were divided into 3 groups(sham-operated control; ovx-operated control; ovx-operated WBV exercise). We assayed the serum IGF-I, PTH, and ionized calcium and measured the BMD of femur bone. All values were expressed as means±SD. Data were assessed by two-way ANOVA and one-way ANOVA with repeated measurements. The difference between the experimental groups was assessed by Bonferroni. Statistical significance was set at p<.05. As a result, ovx-e groups's BMD, PTH and ionized calcium concentration values were higher than control group significantly, but serum IGF-I value was not different between ovx-e and ovx-c group. Analysis of data suggested a conclusion that WBV exercise is effective method for preventing bone loss and improving bone health for post-menopausal women. |
